Summer Makeup Tips!

During hot weather we want to look our best but once we start sweating the look isn't cute. If you're sweating or naturally have oily skin here are some tips to help your foundation and makeup last longer.

TIP: Moisturize! Helps keep your skin hydrated.  If you have dry skin, I'm talking to you especially.  Your foundation won't dry up and give you those patches no one wants! (If you have oil to combo skin, also moisturize but use a light lotion)
I Recommed:. Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion

TIP: Use a primer! It helps even out your face to allow your foundation to sit on a balanced surface. It also helps with dry or oily skin, so your foundation will last longer.  Some primers give you a matte look while others give you that healthy glow, for summer matte works best helps you look less shiny.
I Recommend: Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer

TIP: If you have oily skin, set your foundation with a powder, dab it on the areas you are more likely to see oil, I would suggest to leave your dry areas alone, it could cause it to look cakey.  If you have dry skin and you're going to be out, lightly powder your face to reduce sweat from peeking through.

TIP: [THIS IS OPTIONAL] you could also set your makeup with a setting spray so that everything is "locked" in place. These products range from affordable to higher end. I have been using the ELF Mistand Setting spray and it has been working fairly well.

TIP:  although we can’t keep ourselves from sweating, keep your powder in your purse, bag, car, etc.  We’re going to end up whipping the sweat off so you need to touch up your makeup again. I have seen a lot of people use Rimmel Stay Matte Powder

TIP:  On an everyday basis, we don’t need a full face of makeup.  Find the areas you need coverage in, like under your eyes, chin, and/or forehead.  Or maybe you need to conceal redness, or pimples. Use concealer on only those areas and set with powder! THAT’S IT! You can also use a tinted moisturizer, don’t forget to set it.
I Recommend: L'Oreal True Match concealer

Hope you all find these tips helpful! The best tip is to go out and have fun with your own bare face! This way you won't have to worry about anything slipping and sliding! Enjoy your summer!

xoxo

Revlon NEARLY NAKED REVIEW

I figured we start with the basics, I bought the Revlon Nearly Naked a year ago in the shade 160 Fresh Beige. I used it during Chicago's hot summer and brutal winter. It's lightweight but you could build it up to a medium coverage. The finish is dewy, so you'll have a healthy glow, blends easily. Smell wise it just has a faint foundation smell, nothing too bad. It does have an SPF of 20 so great for summer time but this means that it will reflect light, for example flash photography but I haven't had this problem.  I don't have much to cover up but I do think that this product does a great job at evening out my skin tone (I am wearing it in the "About this Blogger" post). I think the packaging is sleek and great for travel, does not come with a pump but I don't really mind it, just make sure to start off with a little and then build on it.

OIL CONTROL: I have oil to combination skin which means that at the center of my forehead, noes and chin I become oily whereas on my cheeks I'm dry.  The foundation was great during the summer but I did have to set it with powder or blot when it got too hot outside, mostly on my nose. During the winter I didn't have a problem with it, it was light enough to make my dry spot feel moisturized.

LONGEVITY: I would wear this foundation for a course of 10 hours or so (less on other days) So I would be indoors, outdoors, walking, running, talking, eating and everything else, surprisingly the coverage was still there (I did use a primer and powder to set) of course it was not as nice as it was when I first applied it but for 10 hours, I think it worked great. Sometimes I would come home and see my nose and chin a slight different color where the foundation wore off but that was because I would blot with a tissue and touch my chin a lot.

Over all, I really enjoyed the use of this foundation. They also have a great selection for undertones but they only have 16 shades to choose from which it not bad but could be better.  I would recommend it to everyone and I have to say it's a product I'm tempted to repurchase.

You can tell I enjoyed this product.

About the Blogger

My name is Jennifer, one of the reasons why I decided to create this blog was to encourage people to have fun with makeup.  Makeup is one of those things that is made to enhance your features, building your confidence.  I have grown to love makeup, it's one of those things where I have total control over.  I decide what lip color to wear and I decided what look I wanna go for every morning.  I'm here to fill you in on the products that you should try and the products that take a little more time to love.  Being able to applying makeup didn't happen to me over night (and I'm still not the best at it) but practice make perfect.  So have fun, and don't give up! The fun is just about to start!
